Billy Combinations
Starting point of this exhibition are pieces of Ikea furniture. The nine participating artists were asked to use these pieces of furniture and turn these into art works. The works in the exhibition can be seen as mutations in the genetic fabric of modern affordable furniture. The works in the exhibition are useless as furniture but surprising as works of art and, in that sense, have been transformed into new exiting objects. The exhibition reflects on the relations between mainstream and alternative art, design and architecture and the idea that neither of these can exist without their counterparts.
