DNA IKEA
Nine artists were asked to use (secondhand) IKEA furniture and to turn these pieces into art works. The works in the exhibition can be seen as mutations in the genetic fabric of modern affordable furniture. They are useless as furniture but surprising as works of art and, in that sense, have been transformed into new exiting objects. The exhibition reflects on the relations between mainstream and alternative art, design and architecture and the idea that neither of these can exist without their counterparts.
